The name Australia comes from the latin australis (southern).

The exact date of the first human presence in Australia is not really known. Some scientists say 50 000 years ago other 100 000 years ago.  These first Australians were the ancestors of Australian Aborigines today.

Homo sapiens arrived in Australia 70 000 years ago.

Australia is a country in the southern hemisphere whose area covers most of Oceania. Its capital is Canberra's population is etimated at about 22 millions people.

Australia is one of the most developed countries in the world.
